PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper folding detecting mechanism and an electrophotographic printer therewith which can restrain an effect on the traveling capability of paper, and detecting the corner folding of paper positively. SOLUTION: For paper 16 transferred in the direction shown by the arrow X, both sides of a tip part 26 abuts against a stopper 22 mounted on a stacker. The paper 16 without corner folding stops as it is, and on the other hand, paper 16B with corner folding moves forward in the conveyance direction while changing the posture until a corner folding part 28 abuts against one stopper 22. Therefore, the tip part 26 of the protruding paper 16 is detected by a line sensor 24. This detection permits an electrophotographic printer to detect the occurrence of corner folding.
