The cistern (7) is connected to the trough (4) by an open pipe (8). Its collar (14) has a rubber seal to abut the base of the trough around the hole (13). The weight of the trough and contents helps to maintain the seal. The trough is tilted around its swivel (5) by the handle (6). Water loss from the open pipe is not seen as significant but a tap could be fitted.
