PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound havingπelectron conjugated system of a specific structure in the same molecule, stably exhibiting metal gloss, being stable in the air and soluble to organic solvents and useful as a coating film-forming material. SOLUTION: This 2,5-dithienylpyrrole derivative is represented by formula I (R is H, an alkyl, an aromatic group, formyl, an acyl, an alkoxycarbonyl or an alkenyl), e.g. 1-[(4-n-hexyloxy)phenyl]-2-(2-thienyl)-5-(5-tricyanoethenyl-2- thenyl)pyroole. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting, e.g. a compound of formula II with tetracyanoethylene in an organic solvent. The compound of formula I has heat stability and can be utilized for formation of a vapor deposited film. The compound of formula I is heated at a temperature not lower than its melting point to be melted and the melt is cooled to afford its crystals. Furthermore, the electroconductivity can further be improved by doping iodine, or the like, to the compound of formula I.
