PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate storing container in which dust generated when a lid is opened or closed is reduced. SOLUTION: An inner volume of a resilient member 6 held by a case 1 and a lid 2 is increased by a pressure adjusting means 9. An inner side of the case 1 is sealingly closed and the lid 2 is fixed. Then, as this volume is reduced by the pressure adjusting means 9, the resilient member 6 is not press contacted with the case 1 and the lid 2, so that the inner side of the case 1 is communicated with the surrounding atmosphere and the lid 2 is not fixed. With these arrangements as above, useless force is not produced for removing or fitting the lid 2.
