PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of unintended prints by setting a size of a printing operation execution range on the basis of size information of a printing medium, comparing the size with a size of an original image record range, and controlling one of an image information-generating means and a transferring means in accordance with the judgment result of whether or not the size is within an estimated range. SOLUTION: A host computer 1001 receives printing size information in a printer 2001 from the printer, and transfers image information to the printer. A RAM 1004 obtains a size of a printing medium. A CPU 1007 sets printing medium information and a size of an original image record range, generates image information in accordance with the range and a user's instruction, judges whether or not the image information is to be transferred to the printer 2001, and displays to a display device 1013. Based on the printing medium size information from the printer 2001, the CPU judges whether or not the information is beyond a printing estimation range of the printing medium actually set to a printing medium supply part 2007, displays a warning when the information is beyond the range or prohibits the printer 2001 from operating.
