Bishydroxyureas are provided that inhibit the enzyme 5-lipoxygenase. These compounds have the formula I wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, A and M are defined herein. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds and methods of inhibiting the enzyme 5-lipoxygenase using such compounds.
