PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong service life of an ignition auxiliary device for an diesel engine using waste plastic oil fuel. SOLUTION: A diesel engine 1 which uses fuel having cetane value of about 27 to 40 and assists ignition by an ignition auxiliary device 2 is provided with an engine rotation number detector 10, an engine load detection means 11, an ignition auxiliary device electricity conducting control means 21 controlling conducting electricity to the ignition auxiliary device 2 and its stop based on control signals of inputs, and a controller 20 which stores a self-ignition possible region determined in advance in accordance with a combination of number of revolutions of an engine and engine load and outputs a control signal for stopping conducting electricity to the ignition auxiliary device electricity conducting control means 21 when values of engine load which are input from the engine rotation number detector 10 and the engine load detection means 11, respectively, and correspond to the number of revolutions of the egnine reach the stored self-ignition possible region.
