PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an FPC opening from being clogged with toner. SOLUTION: An FPC(flexible print circuit) 7 is disposed between a developing sleeve 2 and a counter electrode 6, a control electrode 19 for opening/closing the opening 16 of the FPC 7 electrostatically is arranged around the opening 16 and deflection electrodes 20a, b is disposed on the side opposite to the control electrode 19 through the basic material of the FPC 7. A voltage having polarity opposite to the charging polarity of toner is then applied to the control electrode 19 in order to fly the toner and a voltage is applied to the deflection electrodes 20a, b in order to vary the flying direction of the toner. In such an imaging apparatus, the field being established between the deflection electrodes 20a, b and the counter electrode 6 is stronger than the field being established between the control electrode 19 and the deflection electrodes 20a, b.
