PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste gas treatment process utilizing a carbonaceous catalyst whose NOX removal efficiency is improved while controlling the NH3/SO2 ratio with respect to those adsorbed on the catalyst and the amount of ammonia leaking into a treated gas and also to provide equipment for the process. SOLUTION: This treatment process comprises: dividing a waste gas to be treated into two portions passing through two separate lines, i.e., a line L2 and a line L3 respectively; supplying one portion of the waste gas to the lower part of a reactor 10 through the line L3 to subject the waste gas portion to desulfurization treatment; allowing the desulfurized waste gas portion to pass through a line L5 and mixing the desulfurized waste gas potion with the other unreacted waste gas portion passing through the line L2; adding ammonia to the resulting gaseous mixture; and thereafter allowing the gaseous mixture to pass through the upper part of the reactor 10, to subject the gaseous mixture to desulfurization treatment and NOX removal treatment. Thus high NOX removal efficiency is obtained. |
