PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deal even with patternlike printing of a small lot or printing of variable data by simply forming an adhesive in a desired parttern by moving under positional control a discharge means relatively to a medium, while applying the adhesive to the medium. SOLUTION: Voltage is applied to an opening part 13 consisting of one circular orifice on the lower part at an electrode 14, and adhesive 10 of high viscosity is filled therein to be discharged from the opening part 13 by a discharge means 30. Next, a medium 16 for pattern formation is placed on a stage 60 under an X-Y movement control, and a specified pressure is applied to the adhesive 10 in the discharge means 30 by a pressurizing means 35 according to a command from a control part 11. Further, a pulsed voltage of a specified value is applied to the opening part 13 by a power source 15 through the electrode 14. Thereafter, the relative X-Y positions to the discharge means 30 are controlled in the X-Y movement of the stage 60, and the adhesive 10 is formed in a desired pattern on the medium 16.
