PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the time required for unpacking a pulp bale and to improve efficiency of unpacking by a method wherein a wire at the peripheral surface of the pulp bale is hung on wire hanging hooks movably provided at a hook guide and caught in between the hooks and wire catchers attached fixedly to the hook guide. SOLUTION: For a wire drawing-out unit 14, a plurality of sets of hooks 28 and connectors 29 are attached to the upside of a hook slide base 27, and the hooks 28 are moved simultaneously in reciprocating motions in the same direction through the hook slide base 27 by operation of rodless air cylinders 30 connected to the connectors 29. Wire catchers 32 for clamping a wire in collaboration with the slid hooks 28 are fixed, being opposite respectively to the hooks 28, to the lateral of a hook guide 24. As the wire of a pulp bale is cut, the hooks 28 start to operate and the wire is clamped with the hooks 28 and the wire catchers 32 and drawn out from the pulp bale.
