PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a label adhering device having a label sensing mechanism capable of performing a positive sensing of the label without damaging it when the label temporarily adhered to a belt-like base sheet is detected. SOLUTION: There is provided a label adhering device having a label sensing mechanism 20 arranged at the midway part of a transferring passage for transferring a belt-like base sheet 3 where a label 2 is temporarily adhered to it from a supply reel to a take-up reel. The label sensing mechanism is provided with a reflective type optical sensor counterposed at the label temporary adhering surface of the belt-like base sheet. A forward end edge of the label in its supplying direction is detected by this optical sensor.
