PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively dehumidify sheets of paper which are stacked to become resistant to drying. SOLUTION: This device detects a humidity around a cassette 21 in a sheet containing section 12 by a humidity sensor 41, and then detects an amount of sheets of paper stacked in the cassette 21. The device estimates a humidifying amount of the whole sheets of paper based on the humidity and the amount of sheets of paper detected, and also sheet size, and then determines an output and an operating time of a heater 40. The device operates the heater 40 to start the humidifying operation, to thereby remove moisture also from intermediate sheets of paper, which are resistant to drying, out of the stacked sheets of paper. When the humidity is lower than a predetermined value, the device stops operation, whereas when the humidity is more than the predetermined value, the device determines the output and the operating time again, continued by humidification. |
