PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent accidental engine stop, while driving by presuming stop of an automobile based on changing conditions of engine speed and controlling so that engine cannot be stopped unless the automobile is determined to have stopped. SOLUTION: While a charge lamp 4 is lighted in response to engine stop, depressing of a start push button 7 excites a start control relay 8, making the first contact point 9 close to start a starter motor 10. At the same time, the second contact point 11 is closed, and an ignition control relay 12 is excited to close the first contact point 13. Then, an ignition circuit 14 is energized, making an engine start. In this system, a vehicle stop determining circuit 18 is provided to presume stop of an automobile based on changing conditions of engine speed. When determining stop of the automobile, a stop determining relay 21 is driven to open a normally-closed point 22, and current supply to the ignition circuit 14 is cut off to stop the engine.
