PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the impulse breaking strength and the mechanical strength without deteriorating the extrusion processibility of the insulant of a power cable or the insulant of an extrusion molded connecting part of a power cable. SOLUTION: As these insulants, an ethylene copolymer, which is a copolymer of ethylene and a 3-20Cα-olefin wherein the density is within the range of from 890 to 940 kg/m2, the ratio of the weight average molecular weight (Mw) to the number average molecular weight (Mn), Mw/Mn, is within the range of from 3.5 to 10.0, the melt tension (MT(g)) at 190 deg.C and the melt flow rate (MFR(g/10 min)) at 190 deg.C under a load of 2.16 kg satisfy the formula MT >4.0×MFR0.56 and the flow index (FI(sec-1)) and the melt flow rate (MFR(g/10 min)) at 190 deg.C under a load of 2.16 kg satisfy the formula FI>150×MFR, or a crosslined product thereof, is used.
