PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outer shape maintaining device for easily forming the outer shape of an object and for maintaining the outer shape formed. SOLUTION: This device comprises a bag 2 made from an airtight soft member and having an exhaust port 3, a feed/exhausting means 20 (exhausted condition maintaining means) provided at the vent 3 for keeping the inside of the bag 2 exhausted, and granules 5 (shape forming members) sealed in the bag 2, the granules 5 being kept immobile and solidified in an exhausted condition, and becoming movable and non-solidified when not in the exhausted condition. As an object is pressed against the outer surface of the bag 2, air in the bag 2 is removed to arrange the granules 5 along the outer surface of the object. Also, this exhausted condition is maintained by the feed/exhausting means 20 so as to maintain the outer shape of the object formed on the outer surface of the bag 2.
