PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-reversible thickener that imparts thermosensitive thickening properties over a wide range of temperatures. SOLUTION: In a heat-reversible thickening agent that comprises (A) a polymer including >=50 wt.% of (a) a vinyl monomer giving a homopolymer having the heat-sensitive thickening properties, the component (a) is composed of (a1) a vinyl monomer giving a homopolymer having the heat-sensitive homopolymer (A1) and of (a2) a vinyl monomer giving a homopolymer having the heat- sensitive homopolymer (A2) in which the difference in the transition point is >=5 deg.C between (A1) and (A2).
