PURPOSE:To provide the method for simply obtaining (R)-1,3-butanediol high in optical purity. CONSTITUTION:The enantiomer mixture of 1,3-butanediol is treated with a microorganism selected from a microorganismic group belonging to the genus Cryptococcus or with its treated product capable of acting on the enantiomer mixture of the 1,3-butanediol to leave (R)-a,3-butanediol and subsequently to collect (R)-1,3-butanediol. |
