PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling refrigerant of an air conditioner is provided to achieve optimum cooling effect in spite of load change by determining an amount of refrigerant flow by directly sensing a temperature of air discharged into a room. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling refrigerant of an air conditioner includes temperature sensing elements(65,66,67) mounted at a discharge hole of an indoor unit for sensing a temperature of discharged air, a control element(70) for determining a refrigerant flow to be provided to the indoor unit according to the sensing result of the temperature sensing elements and output a control signal, and valve elements(53,54,55) mounted on a refrigerant pipe connected to the indoor unit for controlling the refrigerant flow according to the control signal output from the control element.
