PURPOSE: A device for processing a slip and a method for processing a slip are provided to miniaturize a system and to solve a business overweight of a financial institution and to reduce errors of a receipt and a totalization of a financial institution. CONSTITUTION: A slip inserting unit(104) is provided for inserting a slip to be processed. A slip guiding unit(102) separates slips one by one using a rotating driving force by a slip transmitting roller. An interval adjusting unit(108) adjusts an interval of a contact guiding roller in accordance with a thickness of an inserted slip. A sensing unit(110) reads a serial number of a slip inserted by an MICR and various information thereof. The first scanning unit(112) creates an image necessary for recognizing a slip and transmits the image to a terminal. A collecting result processing unit(114) prints information on a processing result of a slip transmitted through the first scanning unit(112) on a slip. A stamp unit(115) prints the collecting result of the collecting result processing unit(114). The second scanning unit(118) processes a slip having the collecting processing result printed through the collecting result processing unit(114) as an image data and stores the data in the terminal as a file. In case that a check is issued, a printing unit(116) prints a bank name and a serial number on a paper for a slip. A pocket unit(126) receives collected and issued slips separately.
