PURPOSE: A shelf voltage using method of a PDP(Plasma Panel Display) TV during a planar discharge is provided to regenerate a clean image during a sustain discharge by generating data writing and erasing exactly in a cell. CONSTITUTION: When a planar discharge is carried out to a data electrode(10), a first sustain electrode(18), a scan electrode(20) and a second sustain electrode(22), a data is exactly written in the scan electrode(20). A somewhat low shelf voltage is input to the first sustain electrode(18) and the second sustain electrode(22). A scan pulse, that drops a scan voltage to 0 when data writing and erasing are performed in the presence of the scan voltage, is input to the scan electrode(20). Data writing or erasing is performed exactly at one side of the scan electrode(20).
