摘要 <p>PURPOSE: A process for controlling the amount of unwanted diaryl alkane by-products in the production of ethylbenzene is provided which improves yield and productivity of ethylbenzene. CONSTITUTION: A amount of unwanted diaryl alkane by-products using a zeolite beta catalyst in the production of ethylbenzene by alkylation of aromatic raw material with olefin is reduced by maintaining the ratio of an alkyl group to a phenyl group corresponding to an olefin reactant flowing in a reactor in the range of 0.75 : 1 to 25 : 1 and using an alkyl aromatic diluting agent in an amount of which concentration of olefin flowing in a reactor is lower than the calculation amount divided MW0 by a sum of 6.17 MWa and MW0 (MW0 is an olefin molecular weight and MWa is a molecular weight of an aromatic raw material).</p>
