METHOD FOR ASSIGNING SPREAD CODES OF CODE DIVISION MULTIPLE ACCESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM HAVING VARIABLE DATA RATE

PURPOSE: A method for assigning spread codes of a code division multiple access(CDMA) communication system having a variable data rate is provided to reduce wastes of the spread codes to efficiently use resources of the codes, by using spread codes decided by spread length corresponding to a previous-maximum data rate as spread codes for transmitting packet data, when circuit data is varied and transmitted to a data rate under the maximum data rate. CONSTITUTION: A method for assigning spread codes of a code division multiple access(CDMA) communication system, comprises the steps of: assigning first spread codes used in a channel for transmitting circuit data; adding fixed numbers of spread length corresponding to a maximum data rate of the circuit data to the first spread codes, and assigning obtained spread codes to second spread codes used in a channel for transmitting packet data; if the circuit data is transmitted to the maximum data rate, spreading the circuit data to the first spread codes to output spread signals; if the circuit data is transmitted under the maximum data rate, spreading the circuit data to the first spread codes, then spreading the packet data to the second spread codes to output the packet data as spread signals.
