PURPOSE: A header detecting method of a DVD-RAM(Digital Versatile Disk-Random Access Memory) is provided to consider a counterplan corresponding to a wrong operation of a DVD-RAM and to maximize additional effect thereof. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer detects the initial header position and predicts the next position. The microcomputer enables a header gate and inputs a header signal. The header gate is disabled after the header signal is inputted completely. If the header signal is OK, the microcomputer initializes a counter and counts reference clocks for predicting the next sector position. Otherwise, the microcomputer decides detection of the initial header mark. If the initial header mark is detected, the header gate is disabled. On the contrary, if it is not detected, a pseudo header mark is outputted. Following actions are performed in accordance with the header mark. Therefore, error in detecting the header position is reduced, and additional signals including read gate signals and servo hold signals are processed without an error.
