PURPOSE: A playing method of data is provided to prevent occurrence of errors caused by a defect of a disk in data input/output control of a buffer when the buffer has overflow and to reproduce data continuously by controlling data input time to the buffer exactly. CONSTITUTION: A VBR(Variable Bit Rate) buffer(59) has UDR for writing data faster than VBR for reading the data all the time. Thereby, the VBR buffer has overflow in specific time after operating a system. An overflow occurrence signal of a microprocessor unit(61) is inputted to a VBR processor(53) depending on the data storage amount of the buffer. The VBR processor decides continuity of input sector addresses from an ID ECC(Identification Error Correction Code,51) and defect of sector data. The VBR processor outputs back track jump signals when the sector addresses are normal. After track jump, the VBR buffer continues output until the sector data are inputted immediately before occurrence of overflow. If the error-corrected sector addresses are larger than the sectors before overflow, the microprocessor unit starts to transfer data to the VBR buffer. The microprocessor unit outputs overflow when the VBR buffer is filled with data.
