PURPOSE: A gene trap construct comprises a first reporter gene which activates other second report gene by self activating. The construct is used for identification or isolation of transient genes such as a programmed cell death gene, a DNA repair gene, a differentiation specific gene and the like. CONSTITUTION: A gene trap construct contains a first reporter gene, which, after activation, can activate a second reporter gene, and the gene trap construct is used for identification and/or isolation of genes, in particular transiently expressed genes. A cell, preferably a mammal cell, containing the above-mentioned gene trap construct is provided which is used for identification and/or isolation of genes, in particular transient genes. In addition, a vector containing the above mentioned gene trap construction, as well as a kit for identifying and/or isolating genes, in particular transient genes, which contains at least the above-mentioned gene trap construct or the above-mentioned vector are provided. Further, a method for the identification and/or isolation of genes, in particular transient genes is provided.
