<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic control method by which multimedia communication interposed with networks whose transmission rates differ and intermingled real time and non real time systems can be attained. SOLUTION: In the case of communication in a network consisting of terminals 11, 16, nodes 13, 14 and gateways 12, 15 and when the communication by the terminal 11 or 16 having a traffic control function or by the nodes 12, 15 acting like the gateways between the terminal and the network requires a warranted band or when high speed data transfer is required because data are huge, an ATM SVC is set between the nodes and the communication is conducted by that connection (19, 20). In other cases, data are transferred through a default PVC. When a terminal receives the ATM SVC request from a node of the terminal or the gateway, an ATM connection is set to an optimum route and ATM exchange processing is applied to a transmitted packet.</p> |
