PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable video signal recording and reproducing device whose operability is improved by separating an LCD monitor from a main body. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a main body section 1 which consists of a recording and reproducing signal processing section for video and audio signals, and an LCD monitor 5 which is electrically connected to the section 1 to be freely attachable and detachable to/from the section 1. Video signals are displayed on the monitor 5 while the monitor 5 is attached to or detached from the section 1. Thus, when a user observes video while the device is fixed, the monitor 5 can be used in a state of being attached to the section 1, and when the user is moving, the user can view the video by holding only the monitor 5 with his hand in a state that the section 1 is housed in another section to separate only the monitor 5 from the section 5.
