The outer surfaces of phase conductors (2,3,4) are covered with electrical insulation layers (5,9,13) applied by extrusion process. Each insulation layer has three integral insulating ribs (6-8,10-12,14-16) at angular spacings of 120 degrees, and integral barriers (18). The ribs may be formed axially or spirally or radially only on a part the length of the phase conductors.
