The invention relates to a method for controlling an automatic gearbox of a motor vehicle. An electronic gearbox control determines a transverse acceleration value (AQ) by means of signals that are proportional to the wheel speed (NRA3, NRA4). Said value is outputted to additional programme modules. The determined wheel speeds (NRA3, NRA4) which enter into the transversal acceleration value (AQ) are corrected by wheels of the vehicle in a tolerance balance module of the wheels (M1) when a dynamic tire radius (RDYN) at one of the wheels of the vehicle deviates from a tyre radius which is given at an optimum tyre geometry.
