A KEYBOARD FOR CHILDREN, DYSLECTICS AND MENTALLY HANDICAPPED

A keyboard design is presented replacing the conventional keyboard formats. This keyboard provides easily understandable formats using appropriate picture associated keys. The picture association applies to both the alphabetical and numerical keys as well as the entire specific keyboard function keys. All alphabetical keys are lower case and the bigger size of the focus-span necessary for a beginner reader. The keys on the keyboard are yellow and the frame green to illuminate the problem of distinguishing foreground from background, which is one of the basic problems in reading-difficulties. A workbook and computer-programme accompanies the keyboard, providing a very user friendly rapid learning tool for the: a) age-group 3-8; b) illiterates; c) the mentally handicapped; d) foreign mother-tongue people who wish to learn English; e) dyslectics/poor readers.
