PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent recording to a recording medium from being discontinuous due to overwrite of data onto recording data in a buffer memory and to minimize deterioration in an input signal resulting from excess compression. SOLUTION: A signal compression means 100 applies compression processing to an input signal, a recording system signal processing means 210 applies prescribed recording system signal processing to the input signal after the compression, an output of the recording system signal processing means 210 is written in a buffer memory 140 at a prescribed time interval and the signal is read from the buffer memory 140 in an optional timing. Then a recording means 110 records an output of the buffer memory 140 to a recording medium and the recording means 110 outputs its recording state. Moreover, a system control means 120 selects an optimum compression rate of the signal compression means 100 on the basis of the output of the recording means 110 and the residual amount of the buffer memory 140. |
