PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a camera-shake correction device by which deterioration in image quality can be prevented. SOLUTION: An object image is formed in a valid pixel area 3a of an image pickup element 3 via a zoom lens 1. A scanning area calculation circuit 7a generates a vertical scanning area designation signal mV deciding a moving amount of a scanning area 3b in the valid pixel area 3a and a vertical magnification designation signal tV on the basis of a magnification T in response to a focal distance of the zoom lens 1 calculated by a magnification factor calculation circuit 7b and moving amounts MV, MH detected by a camera-shake detection circuit 8 and gives them to a timing generating circuit 6. Simultaneously, the circuit 7a generates a horizontal scanning area designation signal mH and a horizontal magnification factor designation signal tH and gives them to a memory control circuit 4b together with the vertical magnification factor designation signal tV. A timing generating circuit 6 gives a timing pulse A to an image pickup element 3, which moves the scanning area 3b decided by the vertical magnification factor designation signal tV to a position designated by the vertical scanning area designation signal mV, and a signal outputted resulting from scanning the scanning area 3b is processed by a time base conversion circuit 4 and a signal processing circuit 5 and a video signal is obtained.
