PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid abnormal alignment of a liquid crystal and to obtain high quality display with excellent vibration resistance by constituting a spacer of crosslinked polymer fine particles with specified adhesive microparticles deposited on the surfaces. SOLUTION: The spacer for a liquid crystal display device used consists of crosslinked polymer fine particles having minute adhesive particles having a group expressed by formula of R1O-(R2O)m- and having <=200 deg.C glass transition temp. deposited on the surfaces. In the formula, R1 is a 1-18C alkyl group, alkenyl group, aryl group, alkylaryl group, aralkyl group, acyl group, alkylcarbamoyl group, acylcarbamoyl group or the like, R2 is a 2-4C straight- chain or branched-chain alkylene group and may have hydroxyl groups as substituents, m is an integer of 1 to 100, and m R2 groups may be same or different. The minute particles are deposited on the surfaces means that the minute particles are firmly deposited on the objective surfaces.
