PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a video display device and video display method which can always yield good display quantity irrelevantly to a video signal to be displayed. SOLUTION: The video display device which displays on a specific display means video signals in specific format supplied from outside is provided with a storage means 16 which stores the video signals and display control means 40 and 50 which write the video signals in the storage means 16 at a speed corresponding to the number of the horizontal lines of one picture of the video signals, reads the written video signals out at a speed corresponding to the number of the horizontal lines of one picture of the specific display means, and displays the read video signals on the display means in a display time corresponding to one horizontal line of the display means.
