PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image supervisory system where one supervisory device can record pictures in time series picked-up at an optimum field angle for a plurality of pickup object areas and the picture with high definition supervises over a wide range in terms of the time series picture. SOLUTION: A camera section 11 outputs a picture that is picked up with a predetermined proper resolution for pickup object areas with different distance. A camera control section 10 generates control information to control a field angle, focal distance and an attitude of the camera section 11 so as to obtain the picture with a predetermined optimum field angle as to the pickup object areas. A picture input section 12 converts an output picture signal of the camera section 11 into picture data to receive the data. A picture recording and reproducing section 13 records the picture data received by the picture input section 12 to a recording medium together with pickup parameters when picking up the picture. A picture output section 15 outputs the picture received from the camera section 11 or a reproduced picture from the picture recording and reproducing section 13 on the basis of a picture selection signal from an output picture control section 14.
