PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent in the initial stage accidental abnormal heat generation of a high voltage transformer during high frequency heating operation in a high frequency heating device. SOLUTION: The high frequency heating device high frequency-heats a cooking object with a high frequency oscillation means 2 containing a magnetron 24 for oscillating high frequency, and a high voltage transformer 21 for applying high voltage to the magnetron 24, and has means-coping-with-abnormality 3, 4 for stopping the operation of the magnetron 24 when corona discharge is generated in a secondary coil Ts of the high voltage transformer 21. By detecting such a sign that the high voltage transformer 21 may locally cause abnormal heat generation, or generation of corona discharge, since operation of the magnetron 24 can be stopped before the high voltage transformer 21 locally generates heat, accidental heat generation of the high voltage transformer can be prevented.
