PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new slider material for magnetic head which makes good use of features of a slider material for magnetic head ilmenite structure represented by a composition formula MTiO3 (M: one kind ore more among Ni, Co, and Mn) showing superior abrasion and wear characteristics and improv ing the excellent precision machinability of the slider material. SOLUTION: This is a slider material for magnetic head which has the ilmenite structure expressed by MTiO3 (M: one kind or more among Ni, Co, and Mn); and the relative density of the material is >=99% and the mean crystal particle size is <=5μm (providing that the mean crystal particle size is obtained by multiplying a value found by an intercept method by a coefficient 1.78).
