OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM, ITS PRODUCTION AND HOLOGRAPHIC SYSTEM USING SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a desired hardness, phase separation and holographic characteristics by using an optical recording medium containing a polymer matrix and a system containing a photoactive monomer and capable of optically forming an image and by forming the polymer matrix by a polymerization reaction independent of a reaction by which the photoactive monomer is polymer ized. SOLUTION: A mixture of a polymer matrix and a system comprising a photoactive monomer and capable of optically forming an image is prepared and a precursor of the polymer matrix is hardened at the original spot to form the polymer matrix. In the hardening step, the matrix and the system capable of optically forming the image cause phase separation and show a Rayleigh ratio of about <=7×10-3 in 90 deg. light scattering of wavelength effective to form a hologram and the polymer matrix is formed by a polymerization reaction independent of a reaction by which the photoactive monomer is polymerized. The system capable of optically forming the image further contains a photoinitiator and a back diffusing agent. The polymer matrix preferably comprises a melamine-formaldehyde resin.
