PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescence element with high luminescent efficiency by including a charge trapping function in a luminescent layer. SOLUTION: The electroluminescence element has a substrate 11; a hole injection electrode 12; a hole transport layer 13, an electron transport layer 14; and an electron injection electrode 15, stacked in order on the substrate 11, and the electron transport layer 14 acting as a luminescent layer contains a hole trap. A hole injected from the hole transport layer 13 is trapped in the hole trap within the electron transport layer 14, and efficiently contributes to luminescence.
