PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly and certainly seal a predetermined position of a vacuum container by anode joining without causing a failure position. SOLUTION: In the method for sealing a vacuum container 1 for sealing a vacuum discharge hole 4 of the vacuum container 1 for sealing a substrate glass and an image display plate glass through a frame body glass, a discharge tube 7 is joined around the vacuum discharge hole 4 and the vacuum container 1 is discharged to a vacuum and/or a gas is introduced to the inside of the vacuum container 1. A metal sealing cap shielding the vacuum discharge hole 4 is anode-joined and a discharge tube 7 is removed from the vacuum container 1.
