PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical disk apparatus that can quickly execute the seek operation without destruction of data during the seek operation. SOLUTION: On the occasion that the radius position of beam spot on an optical disk 11 is moved to the external circumference side from the current radius position during the seek operation to move the radius position of beam spot on the optical disk 11, the seek operation is performed while the laser power is set to that in the ordinary reproducing operation. Moreover, when the current radius position is moved to the internal circumference side, the laser power of the ordinary reproducing operation is lowered at the seek starting point and this laser power is changed again to that of the ordinary reproducing operation after completion of seek operation or during the seek operation. |
