PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a boding agent for bonding a face plate having a phosphor layer and a front plate for protecting the face plate, from spewing out, and to reduce the quantity of the boding agent, and to prevent the bonding from being broken at the front plate end part at the time of a temperature rise. SOLUTION: A phosphor layer 1008 having a thickness of about 20μm and an aluminium metal back layer 1009 having a thickness of about 1,000Åfor covering the phosphor layer 1008 are formed on the inner face of a face plate 1007 made of soda-lime glass, having a thickness of 3 mm. A transparent front plate 1012 is bonded on the outside of the face plate 1007 by using a bonding layer 1013. Such a material that a non-bonding face is a plane and a bonding face has a projecting shape is used as the front plate 1012. The front plate 1012 is divided into a central region 1017 having a thickness of 2 mm and end regions 1018 having a thickness reduced continuously from 2 mm to 1 mm.
