One part (12) of the two-part lock is flexible, the lock composed of receiver (12) and engaging grip parts. The receiver (12) has a flexible component (25) allowing flexible or springy movement in one plane parallel to the plane of symmetry of the vehicle. The receiver (12) has a locking part (14) whose pin (19) bolts home into a hole in the grip part assisted by receiver guides (17,22) used to draw the pin down into the grip hole. Guide (17) forms part of the locking part (14) as opposed to guide (22) which is arranged on the pin (19). The locking (14) consists of a U stirrup designed so the pin (19) as bolt passes through the stirrup legs (15,16). The grip has a part made up to two identical holed plates at specified spacing. The receiver part (12) is bracketed (13) to the hood and the grip part mounted on the cab, using identical brackets for fitting to left or righthand sides of the vehicle in the line of travel.
