The present invention relates to a method for the toroidal writing and reading of information that involves using the magnetic material of toroidal configurations for organising structures comprised of information and calibration configurations having a closed magnetic flow with a predetermined revolution direction. When writing alternating information, the revolution direction of the closed magnetic flow is changed. When reading information, an action is applied on the information and calibration configurations using an alternating sub-magnetising field. The method further involves detecting the output signals and determining the value of an information unit. The memory cell includes a toroidal member that comprises an axial opening through which the signal bus extends. Outside the toroidal member, a sub-magnetisation bus is provided for generating in said member a magnetic field that is transverse to the swirling one. The memory device includes a matrix (13) with information memory cells, K sub-magnetising buses (15) and L signal buses (16), a calibration memory cell, a unit (20) for generating sub-magnetisation currents, an initialisation unit (22), a signal generator (19), an address decipherer (23), a unit (24) with detection devices and an electronic control unit (25). The controller (26) controls the operation of the memory device.
