Plants are disclosed which are capable of expressing, in a tissue or tissues susceptible to damage by feeding insects, an exogenous protein(s) such as fusolin or a fusolin-like protein, to reduce damage to the plant by inhibiti ng feeding, growth and/or development of insects. Feed baits comprising spindle bodies, spindle-like bodies or constituent protein(s) thereof which inhibit feeding, growth and/or development of insects are also disclosed.
