PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a number information guide/communication system and method capable of informing a portable telephone terminal subscriber of the guide information of a telephone number expected by the portable telephone terminal subscriber, in a portable telephone exchange system. SOLUTION: This system has a portable telephone switchboard (EX) 20 and a portable terminal (MS) 10. The EX 20 is provided with a database function for storing various kinds of telephone number information and an information control function for receiving contents requested by a portable telephone terminal subscriber, retrieving necessary information, transmitting an instruction to be shifted to data communication to the portable telephone terminal subscriber and informing the portable telephone terminal subscriber of the number information. The MS 20 is provided with a function for shifting to data communication according to the information communication instruction from the portable telephone switchboard (EX) 20 and a database function for receiving and storing the transmitted information and a function for selecting and displaying the stored database information.
