PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a video signal whose dynamic range is extended and that is more suitable for a characteristic of a display device. SOLUTION: A gamma correction circuit is provided with a slice circuit 2 that slices a video signal depending on a signal level, a gamma correction circuit 3 that applies gamma correction to each sliced video signal and an adder means 4 that sums video outputs from components of the gamma correction circuit 3. Thus, a dynamic range of the video signal can be extended and the video signal more suitable for a characteristic of a display device can be obtained.
