PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical information recording/reproducing apparatus for reducing possibility of the recording.erasing operation to the other track while reducing erroneous detection of off-track phenomen. SOLUTION: The structure for detecting that change of tracking error signal (TE signal) higher than the comparison level has continued for a certain period is provided in two systems as the structures in difference setting of comparison level and period (comparator 104, timer device 105, comparator 110 and timer device 111) and, when if any one system fails, recording.erasing operation to the disk 101 is stopped. Moreover, when the position information of PID part that will be reproduced and will be outputted from the PID register 107 is compared with the position information of PID part read with PID demodulator 106. If these are not matched, the recording.erasing operation to disk 101 is stopped even when the PLL circuit 112 outputs the hold signal.
