PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To program accurately and easily the dead time of a shoot-through preventing circuit, by so configuring it that it includes a comparator wherein the voltage of its timing capacitor is compared with a reference voltage, and according to the comparison a signal is outputted in the output terminal thereof. SOLUTION: In this circuit, a reference voltage 40 is provided to input it to a comparator 41 together with a signal of a node 35. By using a reference current source 32, an inner capacitor 31, and the reference voltage 40, the mounting of this circuit can be performed very simply, and its time delay can be related to the value of the inner capacitor 31 with a high accuracy. Further, this circuit can be programmed from the external, and this circuit is so configured that it is relatively hard to receive the effects on its dead time (delay time) caused by the variations of its temperature, supply voltage, and processes. As a result, the dead time of the chip of this circuit can be controlled from the external.
